Photo Eraser — Object & BG AI
Getting Started
How do I remove a background?
Open the app, tap "New Edit" or the Background Remover tool, then pick a photo. The subject is isolated automatically. Use the Refine edges slider for hair, fur, or translucent edges, then save as transparent PNG, white, or light gray.
How do I erase an unwanted object?
Pick the Object Eraser tool from the dashboard. Brush over what you want gone (a photobomber, a power line, a price sticker, a stain) and tap Erase. On-device AI inpaints the gap based on the surrounding pixels. The first time you use this tool, the App downloads the ML model once (about 100 MB); after that it works offline.
How do I replace a background?
Pick the Background Replace tool, then choose a preset from the row at the bottom: White, Light Gray, Black, six gradients, or pick a custom photo from your library. White and Light Gray are free; gradients and custom photo are Premium.
Export & Sharing
What export formats are supported?
Transparent PNG for cutouts, plus JPEG for white, light gray, black, gradient, and custom-photo backgrounds. PNG is the format Etsy, Depop, Poshmark, eBay, and Shopify accept for listing thumbnails with transparent backgrounds.
What's batch processing?
Premium subscribers can pick up to 30 photos at once and have backgrounds removed in a single run. Useful when you're refreshing a whole product line for a marketplace listing.
The cutout has a rough edge / missed some hair. Why?
Apple Vision works best on photos with clear contrast between the subject and the background. For tricky cases (fine hair against a busy backdrop, glass, smoke), try increasing the Refine edges slider, or re-take the photo against a plain background.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Background removal and background replace work fully offline from day one. Object Eraser needs internet only for the one-time model download (about 100 MB); after that it works offline too.
Free vs Premium
What's free vs Premium?
Free: 5 erases per day, full resolution with no watermark, all three tools, transparent PNG / white / light gray exports, with banner and interstitial ads. Premium: Unlimited daily erases, batch process up to 30 photos at once, all export presets (gradients and custom-photo backgrounds), and zero ads.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — the Photo Eraser Annual plan ($19.99/year, a 67% discount vs. monthly) includes a 7-day free trial. You're only charged at the end of the trial. Cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings before the trial ends.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Settings inside the App and tap "Restore Purchases". This re-applies your active subscription if you've previously purchased one on this Apple ID.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Photo Eraser and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Privacy
Where do my photos go?
They stay on your iPhone. The App does not upload photos to any server. Background removal uses Apple Vision; object erasing uses an on-device Core ML model. You can confirm by toggling Airplane Mode — editing still works (after the one-time Object Eraser model download). See the Privacy Policy for full details, including what AdMob collects on the free tier.
What permissions does the app need?
Photo Library (read-only) when you pick a source photo, and Photo Library (add-only) when you tap Save to Photos. That's it — no microphone, no contacts, no location.
